We Believe: Week 11

Though we will not meet in house churches this week, we encourage you to engage with the next section of the Creed with your family or in your personal time with God.

Background
See Week 1

Creed Section
Consider this portion of the Creed as we read the Bible passages:
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Read
John 6:35-40 & Revelation 21:1-8
Don't be hesitant to use a dictionary or online resource (like Biblegateway.com) to look up any words you don't understand or names you are not familiar with. However, if you find yourself unsure of the message or lesson of a passage, we encourage you to bring this passage to God in prayer. Ask questions and sit with the biggest point of resistance while you rest, work, and commute. Bring your thoughts to your family or a trusted friend. Let God speak through his Word, through your meditations, and through the community of faith.

Discussion
1. How do the John and Revelation passages relate to this week’s section of the Nicene Creed?
2. What are some things you believe or have heard about death and heaven? How do they compare with what you read in John and Revelation? Do you believe what the Bible offers is better?
3. Why does what you believe matter? Why does what you believe about life and death matter?
4. Going deeper: Read through the Creed and highlight or take note of the things that you believe now that maybe you didn’t at the beginning of this series on the Creed. Then, note or underline anything that you may still struggle with or are newly struggling with. Bring these to God and your church family knowing that your doubt is a sign of healthy faith. Embrace the journey; we are praying for you.

Prayer
Close in prayer for your faith, the faith of your family, and those you love and interact with on a daily basis.
