The Harvest is Plentiful: Living as God’s Family Part 2
These questions are written to be used during our house church meeting in Katy on Tuesday nights and in Sugar Land on Wednesday nights. If you find yourself unable or attend a gathering this week we encourage you to use these questions at home to sink more deeply into this vision series.
Background: The vision of The Gathering Church has been the same since our first meetings in January 2020. These next four weeks will focus on this vision statement as it is something truly important to our culture as a church. This annual series reminds us of who we are and what we are called to do. Click here to learn more about our vision.
We are a church family sharing the transforming love of God with our families, friends, and neighbors.
Icebreaker: What are the most important relationships in your life? How do these relationships impact the decisions you make, what you do and/or don't do?
Read and Reflect: Read Hebrews 10:19-25
Take a moment to get your bearings; look at the surrounding stories by reading the subtitles around this week’s passage. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification or definitions for new words and ideas. Listening to other translations of the Bible can both clarify and enrich the meanings of these readings.
Discussion:
1. What is your initial reaction to what is happening in this passage? What questions do you have?
2. Gathering together is vital to life as a follower of Jesus. How does the writer of Hebrews describe what life is like in God's family?
3. What are some ways we can spurn one another toward love and good works?
4. What are some reasons that people may be reluctant to meet or gather as part of a church family? How does our answer to #2 impact how we care for those who are reluctant to gather?
Go Deeper:
4. What does it mean that we can now enter "the holy place"? What makes this so significant? See Matthew 27:45-54
Prayer:
Pray for the families in your house church and the people on your Top Five cards.
