Discussion
  • What stands out to you from Acts 8:26–40 and the video?
  • Why do you think Philip obeyed even though he didn't know the purpose of the journey?
  • How can we distinguish between following God's leading and simply following our own feelings or desires?
  • Philip encounters an Ethiopian official reading Scripture in his chariot. Philip asks the man whether he understands what he is reading. Why might asking a thoughtful question be a good way to begin a conversation about faith?
  • What keeps Christians from taking opportunities to talk about Jesus? Fear, uncertainty, lack of knowledge, or something else?
  • Have you ever had an unexpected conversation that opened the door to sharing your faith or encouraging someone spiritually? What happened?
  • As Phillip encounters the Ethiopian official he is reading a passage from Isaiah. How prepared do you feel to explain the gospel to someone who has questions about Jesus? What would help you grow in confidence and understanding?
  • Why is baptism an important step of obedience for someone who has placed their faith in Jesus?
  • What do you think this passage teaches us about our responsibility in evangelism and God's role in bringing people to faith?

Practice
  • What fears or uncertainties hold you back from telling others about your faith? Write them down, and spend time this week praying for God to give you opportunities to be bold for Him and His kingdom.
  • Who in your life might need encouragement, an explanation of Scripture, or an opportunity to hear the gospel? Write down their names, and if you're feeling up to it, share that name with the group.
  •  What is one practical step you can take this week to be more intentional about sharing Jesus with someone?

Pray
  • Spend time praying together.
  • Pray specifically: For the needs of your house church and the Gathering Church as a whole.
  • Pray that we would be bold in our faith, and take new opportunities to share Jesus with our families, friends, and neighbors.
